13.) Story telling: The ECE way

Story telling is a really fun thing to do and I think doing it creatively is a lot more fun.
Last March 30, 2016, a Creative Story Telling Competition has been held in the Asia Pacific College Auditorium. Students from different courses compete and gave a very distinctive way of telling the story that has been assigned to them.

In our block, Jem Yucoco and Martin Yokoi are the ones chosen to represent our block and to portray the story "Ang Alamat ng Niyog" or "The Legend of the Coconut Tree". They asked help from some of our classmate to assist them in making the story telling better. I have been chosen to be one of the characters together with Kuya Paul Carcasona, Andrea Fajardo, and Hannia Ditano. We portrayed the family in the story and the animal characters. Also Shenelae Raton facilitate the visuals and Wilbert Mamawal handled the lights (well actually he was the one who did the lights even for the other contestants). Our production is complete, maybe that made our presentation really special.

The practices is just so casual, actually we are having fun while practicing because we are laughing whenever we do the funny voices for our characters (especially me because I have to imitate a very small voice of a child). Well I am not the only one who gets laughed at whenever we do our part. When Cylord do his part he is like doing a rap battle because he says the lines too fast. Another is when Hannia laughs even if there is nothing funny while rehearsing. We the characters are ruining the practice for Jem and Martin.

On the day of competition, we are pressured because we just won the Chants and Cheers competition and everyone especially some of the ERC faculty members are expecting something from us. But we didn’t give in to the pressure instead we did our best in the competition. We may have not presented it without flaws, like in the scene when I smash a “tabo” in the ground instead of using a pail and my extremely high-pitched voice or even the rap battle of Cylord.

The competition ended and we won. Such a wonderful experience it is.
