There are three speakers that really caught my attention. First is Tyron Santos from ABMA 154 or 153 (I can’t remember). He is remarkable because of the light atmosphere that he brought while he was delivering his speech. He is just like telling a story to his friends and he is able to make some jokes that can really catch the audience’s attention. Another speaker is that lady who connected integrity in waiting for a traffic light to turn green. She reminded us that integrity can be practiced even in the smallest of act. Lastly, our own Naps Labuson. Who shared us his act of courage and the practice of integrity by standing up for what really is right.
The performances of the eight speakers are really superb and I think that they are really blessed for having such a talent. It is the best public speaking competition that I have ever watched (well it is actually the first but I think it is the best).
I enjoyed the whole program, but aside from the speeches there is something that I enjoyed more about the program.
Before the participants presented their speeches they were first taken into different rooms to do the elimination and for us people who came to support them just stayed in the auditorium and the APC Speaks prepared entertaining activities for us.They have called three different people to do a speed speech and it was fun watching them. After that there is the debate about a not so serious topic. The Speaks did a sample before they called students to participate. The debate was so amazing; it is like you are watching monsters (because of their debating skills) fighting each other. The winner for that battle is Ms Nina together with Ate Joana. Now is the time for them to call students from the audience, I was close into not participating if not for that gorgeous lady (whom I have a crush on) who persuaded me and Gab (from CPE 151) to join. The topic that we should debate about is “Walking from Magallanes to APC is better than riding the shuttle.” We are in the “shuttle” side. Gab did really well in that debate and me, I think I did just well enough for me not to lose my dignity (just kidding). My favourite part of that debate is when I rebutted that guy from the “walking” side when he said that we are weak because we can’t walk that far, I said that “You are saying that we are weak? Well I think you are not smart enough to use that 3 pesos efficiently.” It was not a very good rebuts but I think he really got burned with that.
That was truly a new experienced and because of that I am thinking of joining the APC Speaks to enhance my communication skils.
